Geopolymer Scientific papers on exponential growth

The number of scientific papers dealing with geopolymer science & technology is following an exponential growth, due in part to the emergence of China as a major contributor (since 2008). The following chart displays the evolution of the number of geopolymer papers published from 1991 (publication of Davidovits’ reference paper in J. Thermal Analysis), up to 2009, referenced in Science Direct + SpringerLink. Other publications, such as conference proceedings are not accounted for in these two statistical tools, and are therefore listed separately in the additional chart for Geopolymer Conferences GP’1999, GP’2002, GP’2005.

Geopolymer research in China

Dr. Zhang Yunsheng and Prof. Sun Wei from Southeast University and Prof. Zongjing Li from HongKong University of Science and Technology started in the early 2000 to study the formation mechanism, structure characteristics, mixture design, synthesis techniques, physical mechanical behavior, durability (Cl- peameability, freeze-thaw resistance, resistance to chemical attack and high temperature proof of geopolymer) and its application in civil engineering. Many micro- and macro-tests have been conducted in three years, and great amount of test results have been obtained. A project supported by China National Science and Technological Fund Committe was approved in 2003.
We would like to share some of the test results with others who get interested in geopolymer materials.
